LEARN VA invites you to join a continuing legal education seminar that promises to turn any superstitions about Friday the 13th on their head. This follow-up to our successful October 2023 program is your ticket to becoming a more culturally competent and effective advocate for clients dealing with heirs’ property issues.

Our agenda is packed with substantive topics that are essential for practitioners committed to making a difference in this specialized area of law. Key topics will include:

  • Cultural competency in legal services: learn how to provide empathetic and informed support to clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Estate planning and will drafting: gain insights into creating solid estate plans that prevent future heirs property complications.

  • Partition litigation: explore strategies for effectively navigating the complex world of partition action as we follow a partition case study from the first client engagement through the case resolution.

This program aims to offer practical and substantive training both for seasoned attorneys looking to make a difference and for attorneys who are curious or passionate about heirs’ property work but currently lack the necessary expertise. The program will be presented by Karla Carter, senior counsel at Dominion Energy; Robert Hawthorne, partner at Hawthorne & Hawthorne; and Lisa Bradshaw, associate at Hawthorne & Hawthorne.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enhance your practice and learn about some strategies to help families achieve stable land ownership—not to mention 3 hours of CLE. Mark your calendar and get ready for an enlightening Friday the 13th that promises to bring nothing but good luck and positive change!

Lunch will be provided for those attending in person.
