With more than 40 years of combined industry and legal experience with environmental and safety issues, Greg supports clients across a wide range of industries in handling complex regulatory, compliance and administrative matters, permitting, as well as litigation involving federal agencies.

Formerly a chemical engineer, Greg spent 12 years in the chemical industry with Monsanto Company, where he was a process engineer and production supervisor, responsible for safety and/or environmental compliance.

His environmental practice covers all areas of state and federal environmental law, including air, water and waste issues for industrial, corporate and municipal clients. In addition to general compliance and enforcement matters, Greg has experience with unique state laws such as New Jersey’s ISRA, Connecticut’s Property Transfer Act, and California’s Prop 65. He also has extensive experience negotiating the environmental aspects of large business transactions such as mergers and acquisitions.

Greg’s transactional practice has covered all industries (manufacturing industries, chemical, steel and mining industries, etc.). He has handled permitting and enforcement issues across all industries as well. Greg has appeared before state administrative agencies, state courts, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Appeals Board. He also has represented clients before numerous state and federal agencies in connection with environmental/criminal investigations.

Greg also has a comprehensive national safety and health practice. He has handled hundreds of enforcement matters involving commercial and industrial safety and health issues in both “general industry” and the construction industry, including more than 60 workplace fatality investigations and numerous “whistleblower” cases. Greg routinely counsels clients regarding citations and penalties assessed by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and numerous equivalent state agencies. He has tried cases before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).

Beyond the safety and environmental areas, Greg has experience working with state and federal administrative agencies generally. He has handled compliance and enforcement matters with MSHA, the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and others.

Greg is fluent in Spanish and maintains a strong pro bono practice within Michigan’s large Hispanic community. He is a past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan and holds leadership positions with several community service-based organizations.
