Henry D.W. Burt

Henry Burt is the chief administrative officer of Troutman Pepper Locke. In this role, he leads various practice and administrative operations teams, including practice management, office and facilities administration, and firm events. Additionally, he supports the governance functions of the firm, serving as the facilitator for the Executive Committee, the Policy Committee, and the Nominating Committee.

Henry’s leadership is informed by his experience as an attorney in private practice and in-house settings. He previously held roles as corporate counsel and government affairs manager at CarMax Inc. and as a business litigation associate at Troutman. He also has experience as a nonprofit executive, serving as chief of staff and in-house counsel at the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia during major property litigation.

Henry has led several significant firm initiatives. He was co-head of the Integration Management Office for the Troutman Pepper and Locke Lord merger, was a founding practice director in the firm’s practice management function, and oversaw the operational aspects of the firm’s strategic withdrawal from China.

Henry received his J.D. from William & Mary Law School and his B.A. from the University of the South (Sewanee). He is an active member of the Virginia State Bar and has served on multiple nonprofit boards in Virginia, including for Trinity Episcopal School, St. Michael’s Episcopal School, and Stuart Hall and its foundation.
