Representative Matters

Jessica represents clients in complex civil matters including multidistrict litigation across a breadth of sectors, including the financial, insurance, pharmaceutical, and health care industries. Her litigation experience spans federal and state courts, and includes representing national and multinational insurers in coverage and bad faith cases, as well as mortgage lenders and loan servicers facing class actions and individual claims under federal statutes, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act. She defends major corporations, financial institutions, and health care providers against public nuisance, negligence, fraud, RICO, and breach of contract claims. Notably, Jessica serves on a team defending a worldwide distributor in hundreds of cases brought by states, cities, counties, and private parties seeking recovery in connection with the opioid abuse crisis.

  • Assistance with the defense of clients in qui tam and False Claims Act investigations and lawsuits involving the mortgage services industry and health care and life sciences industries, including allegations of Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute violations.
  • Assistance with the defense of medical professionals and entities (e.g., management service organizations) in a commercial dispute involving RICO claims for alleged conduct arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Analyzing Medicaid and Medicare regulatory matters regarding overpayment defense cases.
  • Reviewing and issuing life insurance recission opinions.
  • Assisting clients in health care regulatory compliance, fraud and abuse defense, payment suspension matters, and provider participation in state and federal health care programs.
  • Representation of a wholesale distributor in connection with the national prescription opioid litigation.
  • Counsel for a national health insurance company in provider disputes brought in both arbitration and litigation, arising out of alleged breach of contract, fraud, and a variety of other disputes.
