As counsel in the firm’s Privacy + Cyber practice, Laura advises technology, financial services, and media companies on complex data protection compliance, cybersecurity matters, and commercial transactions involving sensitive data. She brings over 15 years of privacy and cybersecurity experience, uniquely combining deep regulatory knowledge with operational insight gained from senior privacy leadership roles at major global technology and financial services companies

Laura’s practice encompasses the full spectrum of privacy and data security matters, from architecting comprehensive privacy programs with governance structures and risk assessment frameworks to advising on state consumer privacy laws, algorithmic accountability, and AI privacy implications — including training data issues and AI-specific legislation. Her work covers children’s online privacy under COPPA, cross-border data transfers under GDPR and Standard Contractual Clauses, and privacy aspects of commercial transactions including vendor due diligence, data processing agreements, and M&A assessments.

Laura regularly advises clients on regulatory investigations by the FTC, state attorneys general, and the California Privacy Protection Agency and counsels on high-stakes enforcement trends, including class action risks under state wiretap statutes, biometric privacy laws (BIPA), and consumer reporting agency compliance under FCRA.

Before joining the firm, Laura held senior privacy positions at some of the world’s most data-intensive organizations, serving as deputy general counsel and chief privacy officer at Chronicle (an Alphabet company), directing the legal privacy team at Twitter, and leading global data governance, privacy operations, and records management teams at Visa. She has also held privacy leadership roles at PayPal, Google, Groupon, Levi Strauss, and Takeda Pharmaceuticals.
