Peter handles a wide range of disputes for clients in the health care and financial services sectors across the U.S. In the health care sector, he represents insurers, third-party administrators, and self-funded plans in defending complex multimember and single-plaintiff cases. Peter guides health care clients through ERISA recovery of benefits and fiduciary duty cases, as well as the Mental Health Parity Act (MHPA), and out-of-network provider and other common law claims. 

Peter also litigates cases in financial services sector, defending financial service clients against class action and individual consumer litigation. He manages consumer lawsuits in the mortgage servicing, auto lending, online lending, and banking spaces involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and other state and federal consumer laws throughout the U.S.

  • California Spine and Neurosurgery Institute v. Anthem Blue Cross et al., 2:23-cv-00894-FLA-JC (C.D. Cal. Dec. 2, 2024) – Obtained dismissal with prejudice of all state common law causes of action against Anthem Blue Cross. Plaintiff sought to recover additional benefits based on alleged promises during pre-service communications to pay Usual and Customary Rates. The court ruled that ERISA preempts state common law causes of action arising from pre-service communications and dismissed with prejudice all state common law claims.
