Peter is an associate in the firm’s Privacy + Cyber Practice Group. He draws upon legal insight and journalistic experience to represent clients facing litigation related to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), consumer privacy, and data security. His background as a reporter and editor has equipped him with exceptional research, analysis, and communication skills, which he leverages to deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Additionally, Peter provides ongoing analysis and commentary on developments in the consumer financial services industry, with a focus on data privacy, background screening, and FCRA issues, through the Consumer Financial Services Law Monitor blog. 

Before joining the firm, Peter was a law clerk to U.S. Court of Federal Claims Judge Stephen S. Schwartz where he worked on government contracts, FLSA, and regulatory matters while also refining his writing and analytical abilities and gaining valuable firsthand knowledge of federal court procedure and operations.

Peter received his J.D., magna cum laude, from William & Mary Law School, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. During law school, he served as a member of the William & Mary Business Law Review and served as the senior editor of The Comparative Jurist.

  • Defeated class certification on behalf of a national data broker in FCRA case.
  • Defeated class certification in multidistrict litigation (MDL) stemming from a data breach.
  • Representing credit reporting agencies in FCRA litigation.
  • Representing a data provider in EDVA purported class action alleging consumer data violations.
  • Representing private student loan companies in class action litigation alleging violations of the FDCPA and state consumer protection statutes.
  • Representing a software corporation in a multidistrict litigation (MDL) data breach class action matter.

  • Drafted a brief to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in support of a former armed service member seeking compensation for disability.
