Troutman Pepper Partner Ashanté Smith Named to Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s 2022 Class of Influential Women of Law
RICHMOND, Va. – Ashanté Latanya Smith, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Multifamily Housing Finance Practice Group, has been named to the Influential Women of Law Class of 2022 by Virginia Lawyers Weekly. The award program honors women attorneys and judges for their excellent work on behalf of the justice system and for their clients, their commitment to their communities and their service to the profession.
In her practice, Smith guides lenders and loan servicers through the challenges that arise in closing multifamily financing loans. Clients depend on Smith to lead the dealmaking process from start to finish, and appreciate her proactive approach in addressing the legal, procedural, or other changes that affect the way lenders do business. She is known for her deep industry knowledge and ability to facilitate dealmaking with precision.
Troutman Pepper’s Multifamily Housing Finance Practice Group is the premier nationwide practice representing lenders and loan servicers in the United States. The practice counsels mortgage banking clients in the origination, sale, and servicing of loan transactions sold to secondary market investors — primarily Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as other financial institutions and securitization program participants. The team closes about 3,000 transactions annually with an aggregate value of nearly $70 billion.
The Influential Women of Law Class of 2022 will be celebrated during a recognition awards event on May 25 and profiled in a special supplement to the Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
