PORTLAND – Adrienne Thompson and Sidney Villanueva, associates in Troutman Pepper’s Portland office, were selected to serve as the 2021 Chair and Treasurer, respectively, of the Oregon State Bar’s Energy, Telecom & Utility (ETU) Law Section. The ETU Law Section is an active group of legal professionals that provides unique opportunities to develop knowledge and improve skillsets relevant to the practice of energy and telecommunications law in Oregon.

Thompson represents a variety of energy industry clients in matters ranging from state and federal regulatory compliance to power purchase agreements and other transactions. Her practice focuses particularly on administrative issues before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), especially as they concern the Federal Power Act and the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA).

Villanueva’s practice focuses on public utility and energy law. She counsels clients on a variety of administrative and regulatory matters, including Bonneville Power Administration proceedings, PURPA, transmission access, and contract and rate issues.

Established in 1935, the Oregon State Bar exists to serve justice and the public interest by promoting respect for the rule of law, by improving the quality of legal services, and by increasing access to justice. The Oregon State Bar has over 40 sections that provide specialized information and opportunities for attorneys to develop and improve skills. Thompson and Villanueva will begin their respective leadership roles beginning January 1, 2021.
