Ellen K. Scott has served the firm as a legal assistant, summer associate, associate, and partner. She now serves as special counsel and a fellow of the Center for Public Service in the firm's Berwyn office where she concentrates on the provision of pro bono legal services. Ellen represents the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) in cases against animal abusers to obtain title to abandoned and abused animals and to recoup the costs of their care. She also petitions the courts of common pleas to admit the PSPCA's Humane Society Police Officers to enforce Pennsylvania's animal cruelty laws in their counties. Ellen is also engaged in representations of individuals who are experiencing a variety of hardships in order to assist in removing impediments to a more self-reliant future.

As a member of the firm's Health Sciences Department, Ellen represented manufacturers and marketers of prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and medical devices in defense of complex mass torts, product liability, and consumer fraud litigation. She has substantial experience representing companies in multidistrict federal litigation and state proceedings nationwide.

In addition to her work for pharmaceutical and medical device clients, Ellen has a long history of defending companies against claims arising from alleged exposure to radiation. She was an integral member of the team that successfully defended the personal injury claims arising out of the accident at Three Mile Island, and she has defended radiation exposure related claims in a variety of other settings from class actions to individual worker exposure claims.
