BERWYN, PA., June 14 – In honor of Bringing Hope Home’s 15th anniversary, the nonprofit recognized Troutman Pepper for its long-term pro bono contributions in providing financial and emotional support for families with cancer. The firm has served as Bringing Hope Home’s pro bono legal counsel since its founding in 2008.

Over 15 years, in addition to ongoing legal counsel, Troutman Pepper has hosted Bringing Hope Home’s board meetings at its office, sponsored its annual dinner, and raised money through various fundraisers, including the Adopt-a-Family campaign over the holidays. In 2022, the firm donated 80 hours of pro bono services valued at $45,790, with more than 15 attorneys and staff contributing their time and efforts to the cause.

As part of its mission to make a difficult journey easier, Bringing Hope Home helps pay recipients’ mortgage, electric, and phone bills, provide groceries, negotiate with landlords, and do anything they can to take the weight off the shoulders of patients and their families. What started as a simple dinner has transformed into a functioning charity, and in the past 15 years, Bringing Hope Home and its partners have supported over 8,600 local families with over $10.3 million dollars in assistance.

Partner Sean McDevitt spearheaded the initial relationship through his personal connection with Paul Isenberg, Founder and CEO of Bringing Hope Home, and Paul’s first wife Nicole, who passed from cancer in 2003. It was Nicole’s idea to host a dinner to thank supportive friends that has grown into Bringing Hope Home, which has supported thousands over the years.

The additional Troutman Pepper team who has given support over the years includes Partners Todd Boylan, Chris Miller, and Jay Jumper; Associates Reid Oetting, Raffaele Cicala, and Ethan Zook; Paralegal Dawn Hall; and staff members Janette Chamberlin and Amy Coral. Troutman Pepper staff member Karen McIlvaine experienced firsthand the positive impact made by Bringing Hope Home when it provided her with assistance during her cancer journey.

“Cancer impacts everyone and it’s been one of the highlights of my career to not only be able to support Bringing Hope Home but have so many of my colleagues at the firm willingly donate their time and effort to support this incredible cause,” said McDevitt.

Each year, Troutman Pepper attorneys dedicate thousands of pro bono hours in support of nonprofits, immigrants, military veterans, children, the wrongfully convicted, civil rights and social justice initiatives, and so many more. Learn more at troutman.com/pro-bono.
